Mother's Day 2012

Good evening all. I know I am 2 wks late on my Mother's Day layout. Love these pictures of Gabby. She had made a card for me and a mold of her hand print. She also had a song for me called "Mommy Is Special..." So sweet. I used "Wonky Circles" 6/6 template from Crafter's Worshop and Pink Gumball 9Ranger) to mist over the template. Then I misted with Cherub Pink (Tattered Angels). I painted the edges and punched them with Martha Stewart border punch. I punched the butterflie's from scraps and added brads to them. Thank's for looking.

Happy Memorial Day

Well, no layouts today because my house is a mess. Yesterday we started cleaning out the storage closet. 1 closet led to cleaning 2 other closets. I'm bagging things up and giving the clothes away to the kids daycare.  I'm sure others can benefit.

It's about 85 degree's here in Milwaukee but very, very breezy and there's a "sever thunderstorm alert" until 8pm....But I have not seen any rain yet. It's sunny, then clouds, then sunny again. Very beautiful but why am I in the house? Because I'm hot dangit. I sat around, debating if I wanted to take some pictures but I was scared because it looked like it was going to rain and we were going to walk to the park. We went out, took a few pictures, started to walk to the park, but Farrah was complaining so we turned around and went back to the house. I'm glad we did because it looks like it is going to rain any moment.

I did venture out early this morning over to J's to see if there was anything I could use my 20% total purchase from Michael's on. I picked up a butterfly stamp for $4.99, a pack of Basic Grey buttons/brads combo (Serendipity) for $1.99 and this Scrapbook Trends June 2012 magazine.

So I'm going to cool off a bit and head out to my aunts. Yesterday we went to my mother's house to eat and the kids played outside. Today is a different story, when you work Mon-Fri you relish the day you have off, I hope you enjoy the rest of your day. Here are a few of the pictures that I took of Farrah today:

Its 11:28 PM on Saturday night. Today was very busy. I went to 2 Joann's looking for the new Fiskar's lever punches. I picked up the "Pretty Petals" XXXXL and XXXL. As if I really needed them but they were 50% off, plus 10% on my entire purchase. I'm sitting here watching S N L, flipping back and forth to "Super 8". Soon I will be going to bed. But I thought I would post a LO I completed last night. A few months ago the kids went to Chuck E Cheese and had a blast. I snapped a few pics of the kids. Gabby was way too busy playing to sit still and after a while she caught an attitude and didn't want to take any more pics. I wanted a pretty clean and simple LO, I used just a little paint with this. Actually a paint dauber over a stencil just to give it some character. So the stamping isn't perfect but I love the way it turned out. I punched out the brackets using the McGills bracket punch. The ppr is from Basic Grey called "Serendipity" Found this cute little 6x6 ppr pad @ Joann's for $3.99 2 weeks ago. I added some letter stickers and Washi tape and a button.

Aren't these sooooo cute? The flower is called "Pretty Petal's" Joann's has 2 sizes, XXXXL (3.5) & XXXL (3) inches. @ first I wasn't going to get them because I have enough "flower punches" BUT they were calling me, especially with 50 % off plus 10% on my total purchase I went for them. I got both sizes and the banner which is 3.5 inches.

Now it's 12:21 AM, I am watching "The Outer Limits" Love the show. Good night all.

Sunday Night Delight

Is there something that you love that you cannot let go of? Maybe a keepsake from a deceased relative, a pair of fantastic fitting jeans, old letters, photos. Well my 8 year old has a pair of brown boots I purchased 2 years ago, she will wear them rain, shine, sleet or snow and be comfortable in them. Young women and girls will wear them in and out of season. She tried to wear them 2 weeks ago and I said NO. Its finally warm here and she wants to wear boots. That's not going to fly with me. I asked "Why do you wear those boots?" She replies "Because I love them". What is your favorite item?

I wanted to add some brown to draw attention to the boots. I added some splashes of Teal High spray to the background. Its hard to see but I used a heart template and misted over the whole background. I painted the edges, then added some glitter glue. After that I decided to paint around the page again in pink. Pink is my favorite color. I embossed the ppr mat with Tiny Bubbles folder from Cuttlebug. I wouldn't normally choose that color to mat a photo but I just took a chance and went with it. I like the way it turned out.

I know it's late but who cares LOL.

Well hello everybody! It's 10:13 pm, the house is quiet and I'm sitting here watching American Gigolo. Yes it's unsavory but nothing else is on and I usually watch The Twilight Zone- yes I love watching T Zone. It's the episode where Carol Burnett was severely clumsy. I've seen it, but I'd much rather watch Richard Gere get framed for a murder he did not commit. How crazy is that. It was a good movie but I didn't like the way that it ended. Crap now I am going to have "Call Me" by Debbie Harry on the brain....Yes that was the opening theme song of the movie. On the other hand, have you seen "Play Misty For Me"? That lady was bat crap crazy but it was good....

So about my day, out of 10 ppl scheduled to come in for their review's today, only 1 of them came in, and she was supposed to have a phone appointment. I do income maintenance with the State of Wisconsin, you know medical, food stamps (well they call it food-share) and child care assistance. Yes my job is stressful but it has more to do with my coworkers than my clients. I would love to get into the outreach field someday. But for now you can call me a case worker.....

So I stopped @ Michael's, only picked up 2 items. Ditto glimmer spray in lime green and a pack of green and blue dot cupcake liners. Yes I am getting into other colors but I still loves my pinks! I then stopped @ TJ Maxx and picked up a bunch of Thickers. Hey for $1.49 you can't beat the price. I got a pack in pink of course, green, cream....the cashier asked "just being nosy but what are you going to do with all this?" I told her that I scrapbooked. She smiled and said it was a big industry. Then we went home. The kids were a howling mess and tired. I was tired too but not too tired to finish this layout YES!.

Journaling reads:

You are such a vibrant child. You are loud; everyone knows the exact moment you enter the room. You love bright colors, you are creative, and your smile is awesome. You have so much energy; you love to run (everywhere), jump (on everything, including us)and play (dress up, pretend school). I don’t know how you have so much energy every day. You even love to wrestle (something I wish dad hadn’t taught you). In fact @ this very moment you are wrestling with your sister while you guys should be sleeping….

This was really fun to make. I've been working on it for a week or so. I put the banners down first~painstakingly hand cut then it sat for a few days while I mulled over what to do with it. The stamp is from "Ditto, Hero Arts" Got it from Michael's in April. Isn't it cute? The have another 1, its more like an outline of this one. When I saw it I knew I had to have it. $3.99, great price. I painted a container top in lime green and stamped with it. Then I started misting with lime green and Tattered Angels Polka Dot Pink. I wanted the colors to add to the theme. Gabrielle is very vibrant, she's very loud and makes her presence known!  I love that she's smiling more rather than giving me that "Don't ask me to smile" look. She can give someone the ice grill in a moment though. Oh that sweet "heartbeat punch" Is Martha Stewart. Dontcha love it? I'm glad I saw it because I was actually on my way out of the door but decided to have a look see in her aisle.

Well that is all for now. Have a blessed evening and happy late night crafting.

Happy Friday everybody!

Can't you tell that I am sooo happy and super excited? Yes it is Friday and I'm on my lunch break so I thought I'd post quickly to show you what made for a coworker who has accepted a position with a local hospital. She always shares good advice and we have shared a lot of laugh's over the past year. I am going to miss her. So here goes:

I glued 2 plain bookmarks together, embossed with the Cuttlebug.
Inked the edges with some Distress Ink. Popped a brad and some
embroidery floss. I finally caved and got the "pink/reds" decorative
tape from Target. Her fave colors are red and green. I didn't want it
to be too cutesy. Thanks for looking.

Thursday, May 10, 2012

I am most happiest on Thursdays. Why, because it close to Friday and I love Friday's LOL. My supervisor said to me today "I only see you smile and in a good mood on Thursday and Friday." I laughed but it is true. I love that I can sleep on Saturday's when I don't have my hair appointments. Ok so now I am counting down the time, I get off work @ 4:30.

So over the last week or so I have been working on this creation. Yes I am lazy and it takes about a week to finish a layout!. But now I am only printing a few photos @ a time.

Supplies:
Studio Calico Barn Swallow
DCWV shimmer card stock
American Crafts Dear Lizzy Neapolitan paper scraps (flower negative)
Cuttlebug Divine Swirls
EK Success Flower Burst punch
BG Pantry button
Fancy Pants Love Story (blue chevron)
Shimmerz Pop Art Pink & Sea Monkey
Thickers Lullaby (pink letter A)
Making Memories Teal Ledger letter stickers
Authentique Petite Type Circle letter stickers
BG Urban Prairie chipboard elements

I sprayed the background with 2 different mists. I loved the Pop Art Pink as I sprayed but it was too light when it dried so I added some Sea Monkey. I didn't want to get too creative with this because I wanted the picture and the journal to shine more. I realize how hard it is getting good pictures of 12/12 scans so I took multiple shots of the LO. My journaling reads:

IDK why I chose to scrap this picture but there’s something that I like about it. Maybe the fact that you two were both doing your own thing; Farrah focusing on me and Gabby just playing. It was a very warm “pre-spring day”, March 20th 2012 and the weather was about 80 degrees. I had skipped work and let you guys stay home (shhhhh don’t tell anyone LOL). Only a day before we had discovered a nature trail by the house. I just knew I wanted to take some pictures of you guys. Not that I am a photographer; I just whip out my camera and start taking pictures. (You can already tell that Gabby has her own personality because she is not paying any attention to me @ all.) You were just walking back and forth on the log minding your own business. Sometimes I have to practically beg you to smile for a picture and when I do, I better take it quick because you will soon change your mind. Farrah, you are different because you love to take pictures ranging from sweet and innocent to snappy and sassy. But right here, it shows your innocence as a young girl of 8 years old. There’s no posing here, no manufactured smile, just a calm stillness over your face.

Thanks for looking.

My Blessing

Hello everybody. Making a quick post and showing you my latest creation. First off I used the "pop art" feature on my camera, and when I edited them they did not look this vibrant. But it looks better in real life. Thanks for looking and happy crafting.

I’ll admit that I haven’t been the best mom and I’ve made many mistakes. Before I gave my life to Christ I made a lot of mistakes concerning motherhood and life in general. The journey has not been easy but I am realizing that you two are my blessing. I don’t know what I would be doing if I didn’t have you. I would probably still be living recklessly. I call you two my blessing because you have settled me down and kept me from so much that may be harmful. I believe that God will teach me how to love, to have patience and have joy even through the process of learning and growing in Christ, to grow into the Godly mother that he want’s me to be.

One heck of a day!

My day has been crappy. Work seemed to have dragged on and on for hours and it seems as if people don't want to do their job. I work in state government and I manage state benefits. Lets say everyone isn't on the same page and there is a lot of passing the buck. I was so fed up, I had to drop a dime and speak to my supervisor about the situation. I watched the clock all day, just waiting to get the kids so I can hit up 2 Michael's and use my Joann's 50 % off coupons to replace the Doodlebug ink pads that Gabby (the 3 year old) tortured and abused last night by mixing the pool blue with the bubblegum pink pad so now the blue is blue pink and the pink is pink blue. Also to mention she left the blue open so it dried out some...I just bought them last week....

On another note I did end up first going to TJ Maxx to see what I could see. Mind you I had 1 screaming 3 yr old and an 8 yr old that wanted to put their hands on everything they could. I was so nervous because we were by the frames and I told Gabby that they were made of glass (they weren't really made of glass) so please don't touch them~ which she did by the way and knocked one down. The lady next to me just laughed. I told them to stop so many times I was becoming annoyed @ my own voice. Then we go to check out and they are touching every candy bag they can see. I said no so many times....BUT I did pick up these beauties: I had to grab the ppr, I've seen it @ Michael's but never bought it because I didn't like it then but when I saw it I had to have it, I love the finish and the colors. I liked the punch too. I can use it to add texture. That same punch was $24.99 @ M's. Great deal right. The ribbon is soooo pretty. I love Elizabeth Kartchner's Dear Lizzy line. Very dainty. Love the animal print stamps too. Oh and the heart punch is soooo cute. I was planning on using the half off coupon on the $6.99 Doodlebug stamp pad HOWEVER when I saw those hears I knew I had to have it! Don'tcha just love those hearts???

ppr $2.99/$3.99. $7.99 punch

Ribbon $9, stamps $2.99

$8.99 w/ 50% off. Cute right

So back to my crazy day! Yesterday I came home to a note in my door stating my building was being sprayed for pests....I don't have any but other ppl do.  So we were told to clean out the closets and pack our things, in addition to being gone for 3-4 hrs. My body is soooo sore from moving things to and fro. Finally getting all the clean laundry out of the bags they've been in for months. I rarely put clothes away after washing. So the kids and I went to Spring cleaning! We still need to put things away, but maybe this weekend. I thought about the 2 closets full of my scrapbook items. Uh uhhhh, No I am not moving them. You can spray the kitchen and the bathroom but not those 2 closets. I've moved enough things and I am just too beat to move anything else. I guess this is my motivation to clean and get organized! We have too much stuff. Have a blessed evening.
