So defeated and crushed!!!!

So I did not get the job I applied for. However a few less qualified staff did that have not been here for even a year! Even the bosses son received a promotion! 5 of the people hired are related to upper staff! I feel like I wasted my time with the whole process. I know that I am qualified, I am not cocky about it, but I do an damn good job @ work. I volunteer to help when needed, even helping others get their work done.Thankful to have a job right now but I feel so crossed, defeated, disgusted and angry.

I don't want to do any work, I don't want to talk to ppl. I know that I am acting like a spoiled brat right now but I am truly hurt by this. This is not an easy job, daily I deal with people on public assistance. This is not some job that you can float on by and coast. We are dealing with people's livelyhood here; they depend on foodshare to keep food in the house, medical for health reasons, and child care to maintain employment.

I need to advance and grow, I feel like I am wasting my time here and I am stuck in this same position. Some words of encouragement would be greatly appreciated now. Have a blessed day.

  1. I remember reading that the enemy/oppresor will leave you alone if you are destined for an ordinary life but the enemy will try to defeat you when they know that you are destined for greatness. Hopefully, your day is coming soon and you'll get something even better. (((HUGS)))

  2. I am so sorry and I understand how you feel. This just means something even better is in the works! Everything has a time and season...your season is going to come!

These are the words of him who is holy and true, who holds the key of David. What he opens no one can shut, and what he shuts no one can open. 8 I know your deeds. See, I have placed before you an open door that no one can shut. I know that you have little strength...(Rev 3:7-8).

  3. Mia, my heart goes out to you! Being a supervisor, I have had to face these disappointments with promotions that several people qualified for ...but could only pick one. There might be a time that you could sit down with your supervisor and find out what strengths make you great at your job as well as performance issues to continue to improve in. We ALL have things that we continually have to improve. It might be during a yearly evaluation before you get your answers, or if it may affect your attitude, a private meeting would be appropriate. I am hopeful for you that you continue to take pride in helping those that greatly need you. Rainbows develop with rain and sunshine. This is the rainy day...but sunshine and rainbows will be in your future ...your season will come!...as Krafthead stated

  4. Thanks to all of you that have responded and will respond. I really don't know what the issue is, I just had a performance review prior to applying for the promotion, we covered everything and I was please with it. I honestly think there is some shady business going on. I know it happens everywhere but I honestly am blindsided with the news. I don't think that it is a coincidence that half of the people that were hired were either sons of the boss or immediate family....Anyway have a good one.

  5. Oh Mia so sorry. I wish I had something to day to make you feel better. Life is so not fair sometimes. Praying you can be strong and that another opportunity will show itself. And they may be sorry down the road for picking who they picked!
